CAS on Sunday Challenge #90 Balloons

Loving the current challenge at CAS on Sunday

Balloons

Here's my card

The first time I was a similar card, I was like, huh, how do you do that? It's easier than it looks because trust me, if I was difficult, I wouldn't be doing it! It requires stamping the same image multiple times, once on the white card and then on different colours of cardstock. I used Wplus9's Whole Lotta Happy and Paper Smooches' Balloons dies to cut out balloons from the different colours of the stamped cardstock, ensuring that the balloons were cut from different areas of the sentiment. To assemble, super-impose the balloons over the sentiment stamped on the white. I drew some strings to complete the card.

Uniko Challenge #35

The current challenge at Uniko was a bit tricky for me. Here's the challenge

See what I mean? I guess I could have stamped a bunch of flowers for Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand's You Don't Bring Me Flowers or some butterflies for Bob Carlisle's Butterfly Kisses. Instead, while looking through my stamp sets, I found one and it led to this card

Can you guess it? I used The Alley Way Stamps' Sea Mates stamp set. I stamped the walrus (you guessed the song - right?) on a post-it note and fussy cut it out to make a mask. I then added distress inks with ink blending tools for the sky and beach. I removed the mask and coloured the walrus with copics. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Chit Chat stamp set, which I stamped on a srap and fussy cut.

FYI - for those from a different generation, the song is I am a Walrus by The Beatles.

CAS(E) this Sketch! #187

I'm back to participate in another challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch! this week. Here's the super-fun sketch.

Here's my card

OK - confession time. I got so carried away stamping the leaves, that I forgot to leave the lower right corner blank for the sentiment. So, I improvised and flipped the sketch and put the sentiment in the lower left corner - oh, and I eliminated one row, too!  I'm such a rebel - LOL!

I used STAMPlorations Trendy Leaves stamp set and the sentiment is from Simon Says STAMP Lots of Thanks stamp set.

Your Next Stamp Sketch & Color Challenge #46

Was so excited to see that Your Next Stamp company was based in Ontario, Canada! Even more excited to see Your Next Stamp stamp sets in one of my local scrapbook/paper crafting stores - WOOHOO!

Finally able to play along with a challenge over at Your Next Stamp

YNSSketch46YNScolor-46

Here's my card

To create the background panel for the sentiment, I used ink daubers and distress inks (picked raspberry, dusty concord and peacock feathers)

I used my recently purchased Your Next Stamp Happy Everything stamp set. I know some people in recovery who celebrate their sobriety with cakes on their anniversary. The sentiment on this card is perfect for them!

Simon Says STAMP Blog Wednesday Challenge

It's funny how I get stuck in tunnel vision - I have an idea and am so focused that I don't consider alternatives. Case in point, the current challenge at Simon Says STAMP Blog

This week the challenge is

It’s Hip To Be Square

Of course, I get "stuck" in creating a square card. However, just before writing this blog post,"it" hit me that I could have made a regular A2 card, using squares on the card, whether they be images stamped on small squares or a mosaic pattern of square or ... well, the options are limitless. Another, why didn't I think of that sooner moments!

Nonetheless, here is my square card

The sentiment (one of my favourites) is from Simon Says STAMP Flower Friend stamp set and the flowers are from Simon Says STAMP Life is a Journey stamp set.

Happy Little Stampers August CAS Challenge

Hello there. Happy to join the fun at Happy Little Stampers this month for their CAS challenge

Here's my card

I love to create this type of card. It really "speaks" to me. I love the simplicity, yet the details. I start with a 2.5" circle mask (I used a repositionible label) and using ink daubers applied distress inks dusty concord, faded jeans and tumbled glass). I then stamped using Technique Tuesday's Wildflowers stamp set and removed the mask. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Lots of Thanks stamp set.

One-Layer Simplicity Challenge OLS30

The current challenge at One Layer Simplicity is

August Art!

My skills are about as far away from art as Pluto is from the Sun. I kept coming back though and read through - hmm - watercolor, watercolor pencils, mosaics, stencils. Perhaps, I could "fake" it!

Here's my card

I used Inktense Watercolor Pencils and a stencil from iStencil 27-00079 R SC. With a waterbrush, I moved the color around and in some cases, I added more color by touching the waterbrush to the end of the inktense pencil. The sentiment is from MFT Just the Way You Are stamp set.

Simon Says STAMP Wednesday Challenge

Joining in the fun over at Simon Says STAMP Wednesday Challenge

The current challenge is

Make For The Border

This week we would like to see some sort of interest around the borders of your project, whether it is using a decorative border stamp, punch or die along one edge or around the whole project, we will be looking forward to seeing how you interpret this challenge!
We are showcasing Memory Box Products this week. You don’t have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used.

Here's my card

I used Memory Box Lucienne Tile die, cut several times with different colours of cardstock. Using a fine glue pen, I adhered all the little pieces. The sentiment is from Simon Says STAMP Flower Friend stamp set.

Here's my card

I masked off the vertical area using post-it tape. I then used an ARTplorations stencil - Tribal Weave with distress inks (pumice stone and antique linen). I carefully removed the post-it tape. For the horizontal banner, I used a scrap of cardstock and the sentiment and heart stamp are from Simon Says STAMP Lots of Thanks stamp set.

CASology Week 211

There is a super cool cue card word over at CASology

So, I admit it, I wasn't sure what to do. I checked out the Design Team's cards for inspiration. Then, I recalled that I had the perfect stamp set for this - if I could only find it.

And I did ... here's my card

I used Newton's Nook Design's Newton's Day Dream stamp set for the sweet kitty, the speech bubble and the word dream. I coloured in the image with copics and tried to mimic the colours of our sweet kitty, Bayley.

Sunday Stamps Challenge 133

Thought I'd join in the fun at Sunday Stamps

Here's the inspiration

I made myself a note to do a hydrangea. I finished a card with a purple hydrangea, then I noticed that the challenge was

SSC133 Shades of Blue - Use a Minimum of 3 colors and a neutral of your Choice

UGH - I figured that I would just skip this week. Then I noticed that I still had a week to try to re-create me card. No problem - I can always use another thank you card.

Here's my card

Used Mondo Hydrangea by Essentials by Ellen, coloured with copics. Sentiment from Simon Says STAMP Lots of Thanks stamp set.

Calling All Sistahs: August Blog Hop

Calling All Sistahs is a campaign started by Michele Gross of CAS-ual Fridays Stamps after her discovery of breast cancer.   The idea behind it is to remind our sistahs to do their monthly self exams and annual mammograms.  Michele designed the Calling All Sistahs collection during her cancer treatment and is now donating 50% of her profits from that line to National Breast Cancer Foundation.  This is an important reminder for all my sistahs.

Did you know that 1 in 8 women in the US and 1 in 9 women in Canada will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime. Look around, do you see 8 (or 9) women? Think about it, on average, one of them will develop breast cancer. It's up to us to do something to do what we can to reduce that incidence. Annual mammograms and monthly self exams are one way for us to take an active role. This is your monthly reminder.

Michele is being super generous by offering 3 - $15 gift certificates to CAS-ual Fridays Stamps to those leaving comments on the various stops of the blog hop. Only the comments left before 12:00am on the 19th of August will be considered for the gift certificates.

Here are those participating in this month's blog hop.

And here's my card

I started by using distress inks (worn lipstick and picked raspberry) and ink blending tools to create the background panel. I cut a tag from a piece of scrap bright pink cardstock and stamped the sentiment from CASual Fridays Calling All Sistahs stamp set. I felt that it needed something more, so I added a second tag using printed vellum, some sequins for a bit of shine, silver thread and a small silver bow to complete the card.

Now on to the next stop on the blog hop - Bonnie Sharp

A Blog Named Hero: August Challenge

The current challenge at A Blog Named Hero is

So basically all you need to do is keep your projects limited in colour palette, with one "Louder" pop of another colour.  You can go with all black and white, and a pop of red, or multiple versions of one colour and an extra element of another--you get to choose!

Our fun collaboration partner this month is the wonderful Effie from

http://www.thetonstamps.com/

Here's my card

I went with a dark gray colour for the leaves, the sentiment and the mat. The pop of colour is the red berry cluster. The leaves and berry cluster are from The Ton's Holiday Flourishes that was part of Catherine Pooler's Stamp of Approval Holiday Magic Collection and the sentiment is from Hero Arts Christmas Holiday Cheer stamp set.

Addicted to CAS Challenge #94 - Music

There is an awesome challenge at Addicted to CAS

I was inspired by the code word - music. I knew just which stamp set to use - Love Notes from CASual Fridays stamps.

Here's my card

I inked the note with my Color Box classic pigment paintbox (12 colours). I chose the blue/green area and moved the stamp a little each way to blend the colours. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I matted the note and sentiment with a scrap piece of cardstock.

CAS(E) this Sketch #185

There is another great inspirational sketch for the challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch!

Here's my card

I started with the sentiment from Papertrey Ink Keep It Simple: Thank You stamp set. The foliage is from Paper Smooches Botanicals 2 stamp set. I used my Mini Misti and inked the stamp first with pink (it needed two ink applications in order to get a good impression) and added some purple accents on the edges to add a bit of interest. To complete the card, I used scrap pieces of purple and pink.

For Day 4,  it's Divine Dry Embossing. This is the kind of camp I like - no mosquitos!

Here's my card

Admittedly, I had never used a die before to emboss a card. This was an interesting challenge for me. I started with Die-namics Fancy Flourish. I found that I needed to shim (with an extra piece of cardstock) in order to achieve an embossed "look". I used distress inks to add some colour. Here's a close-up

The sentiment is from MFT Celebrate You stamp set.

I used the Celebrate You stamp set. I heat embossed the gift packages on a scrap piece of cardstock. Roughly cut out the gifts and added two distress inks to each gift. I then fussy cut the gifts out. I also heat embossed the sentiment and added distress ink (pumice stone and antique linen) to the background. I stamped the bows directly onto the background then adhered the gifts.

Freshly Made Sketches 249

While looking for inspiration to play along at Freshly Made Sketches this week, I found a scrap panel and started from there.

Here's the sketch

Here's my card

The panel was created with Simon Says STAMP Swirls and Dots stencil coloured with distress inks (mustard seed, ripe persimmon and picked raspberry). To complete the card, I used scraps of pink and yellow. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Keep it Simple Thank you stamp set. I felt that the card needed something else, so I embossed the background with Cuttlebug's Oxford embossing folder.

CASology Week 210

The current cue word at CASology is

Here's my card

I started by masking off a rectangle with post-it tape. I used a Recollections chevron stencil and added distress ink (mustard seed, spiced marmalade, ripe persimmon, picked raspberry). To complete the card, I die cut using Simon Says STAMP Thanks die from four pieces of cardstock. I adhered them slightly offset, to add to the "dizzy" feel of the card.

Muse Challenge #178

It's been awhile since I've been able to join the talented people at Muse Challenge

This week's MUSE is Tracey McNeely

Isn't her card a beauty? I was inspired!

Here's my card

I was inspired by:
  • a single bloom
  • script-y sentiment
  • lots of white space
  • sketch - bloom on right, sentiment lower left
As I was preparing this blog post, I was giggling. I didn't remember that Tracey's card had a pink flower. I was certain that it was purple - hence my purple flower! I used Essentials by Ellen's Mondo Hydrangea, coloured with Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and a water brush.
